Well Worn Soles, what a treat for 30A Songwriter Radio, our studio audience, and the listeners around the globe. Even with the pressure of a LIVE radio broadcast, this duo brought it to us….full country with a splash of bluegrass. The songwriting paired with perfect execution of harmonies, string instruments, and twang (twang in a good way) left everyone beyond pleased, and anxiously awaiting what was next. Well Worn Soles performed all originals, with the exception of closing the show out with one of my favorite John Prine tunes “In Spite Of Oursleves”. I requested it, they perfromed it, and they nailed it! My new favorite version. The night also featured a fiddle dated back to 1895! After reviewing the audio with no distractions, I realized something special just happened. Well Worn Soles. – Shannon Ireland

WOW! That really just happened. What a night! It’s been quite a journey for 30A Songwriter Radio up to this point and this is just the beginning! We are humbled and honored by the support shown to us by our music family. We have worked hard to create a positive space that we can share with all of you while continuing to do what we do. Stay tuned. There is so much more to come.
Sandy Roots Music Productions will be producing the 2nd Annual Gulf Coast Songwriter Shootout. Nick Biebricher, owner of Sandy Roots, stated that he is very excited about the events new found partnership with Bobby Graves, owner of the Hot Spot Music & Grub. “Bobby is a great guy and he has been generous enough to put up the entire cash prize package to this years winners and we are blessed to be able to use his venue for our event” Biebricher said.
The Shootout is slated to start on September 14th and will continue every Monday night for six weeks until the finale on October 26th. The official dates for this years Shootout are as followed – September 14th, 21st and 28th, October 5th, 12th and 26th every night at the Hot Spot Music & Grub. Local musician, Destiny Brown, has been selected to host the 2015 Songwriter Shootout.
This year’s event will feature a few rule changes and additions. The first rule change is that only solo and duo acts will be accepted. Also, there are three ways to advance to the finals in this year’s competition. 1. Crowd vote. 2. Artist vote and 3. The mystery judges vote. During the first five weeks of competition, two members of the Gulf Coast Songwriter Shootout committee will be selected each night as mystery judges. Each week of the competition, the judges will change and remain nameless. The 2015 Shootout will feature a wildcard slot and the mystery judges will be in charge of awarding the wildcard slot. Many of last years Key Sponsors are back on board supporting this great original music event in 2015. The returning sponsors as of now are OBA, Cotton/Barnes Productions, 30a Songwriter Radio, CrazyTown Productions Nashville, The Southern Rambler, Frank Brown International Songwriter Festival, Shadow Media Group and the details haven’t been finalized but it looks like Tacky Jacks may have an interest in returning as a sponsor. New sponsors Include Gulf Coast People’s Choice “ Live Music Line Up”, The Wharf, Blue Hound Promotions and we expect many more. Schatzi and The String Boffin perform at their “Pale Horse” cd release party at the Williams Backyard Boogie! Also known as bother and sister Dannica Lowery and Ben Parsons, the duet bring together a fusion of love, art, story telling, and just down right damn good talent packed into one little round compact disc. For the party, Dannica and Ben were joined by Hotel Oscar’s incredible bass player Owen Finley and the always smiling everything player Isaac Eady on the drums. Ben Parsons was recently featured on the 30A Songwriter Radio show as a solo act. We discussed the Pale Horse release in depth (blog coming soon). Not only is the music unique and just friggen awesome, the artwork is amazing. That album cover came from Dannica, yes that is her artwork…..wow! 30A Songwriter Radio gives this CD a full 30 out of 30 As! Shannon Ireland – 30A Songwriter Radio

The Funky Blues Shack in Destin hosted a kick ass night of Hard Core Rock and 30A Songwriter Radio loved every minute of it!
There are not a lot of venues that can, let alone are willing to, host not one, but three heavy rock bands in one night. That is unless you are The Funky Blues Shack in Destin! And what a night it was!
First up was “HASTEN” a Hard Rock / Progressive Metal band out of Navarre, Fl.
Growing up with CBGB’s and City Gardens a part of my stomping ground, I have a deep love of Old School Metal and Hardcore. With no scene nearby it’s not often I get to feel the adrenaline kick in as the music speeds up. Then HASTEN took the stage. I was blown away. These guys know what they are doing and they do it well. While the pit was minimal the driving force of the band did not let up. HASTEN is a band I will go see again, and again.
HASTEN:
Silo Clay – Drum
Christian Carlson – Guitar
Lee Maldonado – Guitar
Brent McNamera – Bass
Chandler Downs – Vocals
A 30A Songwriter Radio favorite was up next! “THE OFFER” from Panama City, Fl.
With a new lineup and a new EP in the making this band is on fire! Playing a mix of their new and past music THE OFFER raised the crowd to their feet. Their sound is unique, bold, and a hell of a good time. With a tour starting shortly do not miss your chance to experience these guys live.
Make sure you check out THE OFFERS special acoustic performance only on 30A Songwriter Radio!
THE OFFER:
Nathan Simmons – Vocals
Mikhail Contgran – Bass/Vocals
Tristan Reynolds – Guitar
Mike Jordan – Guitar
Closing the night out was “SCREAM OUT LOUD” a Rock, Post-Hardcore, Pop band hailing from Pensacola, Fl.
I was super excited to finally get to see these guys live! I have been hearing about them for some time and what I was hearing was great! I was not disappointed! They have a high energy that makes you want to move. A heavy sound with a mix of pop makes for an interesting experience that leaves you wanting the night to keep going. I will definitely go to another of their shows.
SCREAM OUT LOUD:
Jøseph Kirkland- Vocals
Hunter Moore- Guitar
Ethan MacIver – Guitar
Brandon Mckendrick – Bass
Keith Tallman – Drums
I want to say a special thank you to The Funky Blues Shack of Destin for putting on this show. It was a great night!
