30A Songwriter Radio Music & Coffee

The Coffee
Shop Years.

For a time, 30A Songwriter Radio had a physical home. Musicians walked through the door, sat down, talked, performed original music and became part of a community that was being documented while it happened.

2015

30A Songwriter Radio Music & Coffee became the physical home of a project that had begun with microphones, websites and podcasts.

When the Radio Had a Home

From a Living Room to a Coffee Shop.

30A Songwriter Radio began in 2013 as an experiment in websites, podcasting and live streaming with a simple realization: musicians, songwriters and the local music scene deserved more attention.

In 2015, that idea grew into something physical. Shannon Ireland and Josette Rhodes built 30A Songwriter Radio Music & Coffee from the floor up in a vacant unit next to Publix in South Walton County.

What had been happening through microphones and computers suddenly had a front door.

If This Couch Could Talk

Musicians Sat Here.

Interviews, conversations, friendships and music passed through this room. The famous couch became part of the backdrop while musicians shared songs and stories that remain scattered throughout the 30A Songwriter Radio archive.

More Than a Coffee Shop

A Music Community Walked Through the Door.

Interviews, open mics, original performances and conversations turned the Coffee Shop into one of the defining chapters of 30A Songwriter Radio.

Some musicians were already established. Others were still finding audiences. The microphones didn’t care. If there was a story or an original song worth hearing, there was a place for it.

Tuesday Night Open Mic

The open-mic nights became part of the Coffee Shop’s identity and introduced musicians, songwriters and audiences to one another. Those nights also created stories that remain inside the archive today.

Preserved, Not Rewritten

The Original Stories Are Still Here.

The historical pages throughout 30A Songwriter Radio remain where they have lived for years.

This archive doesn’t replace those pages. It makes them easier to rediscover while preserving the photographs, writing, performances and history that were published when the Coffee Shop was still part of everyday life.

What began as posts, photographs and recordings has become a record of a particular time in the Emerald Coast music scene.
Years Later

The Coffee Shop Revisited.

Years after the original Coffee Shop chapter, the story was revisited on 30A Songwriter Radio — another piece of the history preserved inside the original website.
