Local Musicians Volunteer for Furry Ones

Local musicians to perform for the Alaqua Animal Refuge and HEART Animal Rescue First Annual Furry Fest on February 22nd!

We have confirmation that Kristen Barkuloo, KC Phelps, Andy Durand & Gary Clark, and Max & the Displacements have volunteered their time to perform LIVE and support this fundraiser for our furry friends! 30A Songwriter Radio will on scene to cover this worthy event.

Alaqua Animal Refuge and HEART Animal Rescue, two area, non-profit organizations dedicated to caring and shelter for homeless animals, are happy to announce they are  teaming together for the first annual Furry Fest, a fun, fund-raising effort for two and four legged friends to benefit the two 501c(3) non-profit organizations.

This FREE Community Festival will be held at Gulf Place—at the corner of Scenic-30A and Hwy. 393 in Santa Rosa Beach, FL—on February 22, from 11am-3pm and will feature live music by local artists.  There will also be food merchants, local vendors, a silent auction, children’s activities, adoptable pets, wiener dog races (the Fast and the Furriest), dog contests and agility demonstrations, furry photo spot, and much more.

The event is sponsored in part by Gulf Place, and festival organizers are still looking for additional sponsors, vendors, and donations for the silent auction booth.   Those interested in participating or donating should contact:

April Madr at april.madr@gmail.com.

Make plans to bring your favorite furry friend and your family to Gulf Place for lots of entertaining furry fun.

About Alaqua Animal Refuge:

Alaqua Animal Refuge, an independent, nonprofit organization located on Florida’s Emerald Coast, advocates the general welfare and humane treatment of animals by providing shelter, prevention of pet overpopulation and adoption services. Alaqua, located on 10 acres in the town of Freeport, was formed by Walton County, Fla.-resident Laurie Hood in 2007 when she discovered that countless animals were being euthanized due to a lack of a no-kill shelter/adoption organization in the area. Since that time, Alaqua Animal Refuge has helped find homes for more than 9,000 animals. Currently, up to 100 animals are adopted per month from this unique rescue facility, which serves as a true refuge for more than 250 animals at any given time

About H.E.A.R.T Animal Rescue:

H.E.A.R.T Animal Rescue Inc is a 501c3 non profit organization dedicated to caring for homeless pets in our communities through helping with adoptions from shelters, community awareness, our food pantry and when able fostering and caring for companion animals until loving homes can be found.
